There are however some other types of sharks such as bull sharks in the gulf but your chances of encountering one is almost 0. I dont know if this is true or not but i saw some thing saying if you swam in a certain part of the gulf of mexico for any amount of time, you most likely were at least 10 ft. away from a shark at atleast one point of time. Relax though, sharks are not out to bother you to be honest, their are sharks every where in the ocean.
