What are the best places to visit while in Key West, FL?

Jay asked:

I am possibly going to jail and want to get away for awhile. I am planning to go to Key West. What are the best bars? What other sights are a must see. Thanks for the input. I am going at the beginning of March.

Sloppy Joe’s bar on Duval is one of the most popular ones. Take an Old Town Trolley tour (fully narrated hour and a half tour) to get to see the whole island and to learn a little of its history, and after that tour you’ll have a few ideas about what you’d like to do. Walk Duval Street and you will see numerous bars, restaurants and stores. Walk along the waterfront to see several possibilities for boat tours, including a tour in a glass bottomed boat. Visit Kermit’s on Greene St. for key lime pie. Louie’s Back Yard is a great restaurant. Check out all the things to do at Mallory Square, including the sunset celebrations everyday. If you’re a fan of Jimmy Buffet check out Margaritaville on Duval. Key West really is paradise.

I went and took a catamaran trip to the middle of the gulf and went snorkeling, it was a blast. Also the southern most point of the USA is in Key west, it’s only 90 miles to Cuba from that point. Good luck and I am sure you won’t run out of things to do in Key West!

Take a day trip out to Dry Tortugas National Park. It’s a little pricey, but well worth it.
