Good place to take my hubby on his 30th B-day?

Angie L- It’s a girl~1/24/09 asked:

Hi everyone- my hubby will be turning 30 in December and I want to take him on a little trip. We can do an extended weekend (for example- leave on a Thursday and stay through Sunday…) so we don’t have a ton of time. We live in Philadelphia. I have been saving for this trip for years, money isn’t too much of a problem but of course, I don’t want to go to a place where we break the bank. I just want to make this trip great since we are having our first baby in January and it will likely be our last trip alone for a long time. Any suggestions on where I can whisk him away to? The only thing I came up with was Key West. Any other ideas?
By the way, I will be about 7 1/2 months- 8 months pregnant on his B-day- so a short plane trip would be ideal.

Key West is a great idea, and December is a good month for it.

St Augustine Florida would be another nice romantic place, especially if you are history buffs at all.
Along the same lines, Savannah GA or Charleston, SC are great for the history thing and these are really nice quaint towns with tons to do.

New Orleans, LA – you wouldn’t be able to drink but theres a lot do to other than party. History tours, Garden District, etc

Memphis, TN – if you are into music at all this would be ideal and still not to bad on the flight. You have Graceland, Sun Record Studio, the Ballet, Beale Street, the Casey Jones Village, a number of art and music museums – and some odd ball museums too. Tons to do. Oh, and you could stay at the Heartbreak Hotel – and if you have enough money you could stay in one of the theme rooms – I’ve always wanted to do that. Plus Graceland gets all decked out at Xmas time – it’s real pretty.

If you are looking for just a nice romantic getaway – Shenandoah National Park is beautiful and you can rent a cabin. They have a bar / food on sight. The trails are properly rated so you could take some small easy hikes to enjoy the nature without getting into trouble.

December is hard, since it will be cold most places and I suspect a pregnant skier is a dangerous thing. Hopefully, some of these suggestion will spark some ideas.

I think I saw sone cheap air fare deals from Southwest from Pliladelphia. Florida is nice – but very hot. 8 months pregnant and 100 degrees are not usually a great mix. try to see what he is interesated indoing. If it is fishing maybe Colorado or up to Cape Cod MA to a beach to relax (not quite as hot as FL)
