How would you handle this ?

houzepw asked:

On the back wall of my garage, I have a confederate flag hanging. It was given to me by a close friend who was killed in a motorcycle accident 4 yrs ago. He bought it for me on a trip to Key West about 10 yrs ago.

I came home from work Wednesday night and there was a note on my front door signed by about 15 families in our neighborhood, asking me to take this flag down. They claimed that it is offensive, that it promotes slavery, that it represents everything that the ignorant rednecks stand for.

I don’t display this flag to promote these things. It’s a reminder of all the good times my friend and I had on that trip to Key West. I don’t think that I have to take this down. It is MY garage.

My neighbor across the street flies a Mexican flag on the weekends. I could say that offends me. (It doesn’t, but I could make that argument) What do you think ?

Do you watch your manners? heheh?

Gulfstream_five_fifty asked:

Some Arkansas etiquette tips… My apologies to friends from Texas, North Carolina, West Virginia, and other parts of the country who may feel left out.

PERSONAL HYGIENE

While ears need to be cleaned regularly, this is a job that should be done in private using one’s OWN truck keys.
Proper use of toiletries can forestall bathing for several days. However, if you live alone, deodorant is a waste of good money.
Dirt and grease under the fingernails is a social no-no, as they tend to detract from a woman’s jewelry and alter the taste of finger foods.

DINING OUT

When decanting wine, make sure that you tilt the paper cup, and pour slowly so as not to bruise the fruit of the vine.
If drinking directly from the bottle, always hold it with your fingers covering the label.

ENTERTAINING IN YOUR HOME

A centerpiece for the table should never be anything prepared by a taxidermist.
Do not allow the dog to eat at the table…no matter how good his manners are.

DATING (Outside the Family)

Always offer to bait your date’s hook, especially on the first date.
Be aggressive. Let her know you are interested I’ve been wanting to go out with you since……..
Establish with her parents what time she is expected back. Some will say 1000 PM; Others might say Monday. If the latter is the answer, it is the man’s responsibility to get her to school on time.

THEATER ETIQUETTE

Crying babies should be taken to the lobby and picked up immediately after the movie has ended.
Refrain from talking to characters on the screen. Tests have proven they can’t hear you.

WEDDINGS

Livestock, usually, is a poor choice for a wedding gift.
Kissing the bride for more than 5 seconds may get you shot.
For the groom, at least, rent a tux. A leisure suit with a cummerbund and a clean bowling shirt can create a tacky appearance.
Though uncomfortable, say yes to socks and shoes for this special occasion.

DRIVING ETIQUETTE

Dim your headlights for approaching vehicles; Even if the gun is loaded, and the deer is in sight.
When approaching a four-way stop, the vehicle with the largest tires always has the right of way.
Never tow another car using pantyhose and duct tape.
When sending your wife down the road with a gas can, it is impolite to ask her to bring back soft drinks and a candy bar.
Never relieve yourself from a moving vehicle, especially when driving.
Do not lay rubber while traveling in a funeral procession.

TIPS FOR ALL OCCASIONS

Never take a beer to a job interview.
Always identify people in your yard before shooting at them.
It’s considered tacky to take a cooler to church.
If you have to vacuum the bed, it is time to change the sheets.

Spiritually speaking, has anyone ever had a dream about other RS’ers?

Temel Nosce asked:

Isn’t there an avatar on here with Elvis or something similar to him? Well, I went on a road trip with him and Aurora Dawn (except with her old avatar not the new one! lol) to Key West. Aurora told me she was an elementary school teacher (what I’m going to school for) and she bartends on the weekend (what I used to do). The Elvis avatar was driving, and we road in a Ford Taurus (the one Conan drove on the first Tonight Show last night). We found a hotel to spend the night in, and then I woke up.

I think it’s my subconscious telling me I haven’t been on RS enough.
The Reverend Soleil — Now that’s just creepy …. lol
Inanimate Phoenix — Yeah… Mine get pretty crazy too. Last night was a nice break from the crazy…. lol

Help me with my mother in law please?

spadezgurl22 asked:

My mother in law will not help me with the wedding. I am getting married in key west even though I live in NYC. She refused to come to the wedding a few weeks ago over so plain old b.s. Nothing significant, just weird things that she was complaining about, mostly her need to involved in drama. I asked my fiance to smooth things over bc I do not want to be involved in this dumb drama. Nothing she is complaining about is legit. It just seems like she wants attention. Which is understandable. So after my fiance went over to smooth things over, we hosted a bbq at our house this weekend to move forward. The second she got me alone she started ripping into me about EVERYTHING! I was saved thankfully before she got too far. But all she was make digs at me, insult me, immitate me, and anytime I tried to discuss the wedding she said oh i dont want to talk about that until we have our talk Im like *** theres nothing to talk about, i thought we were moving on! I just want some help and it seems
like she is deflecting everything to be my fault. which not fair. I have been nothing but kind to her and trying to include her everyt possible way. All she does is mock me and find faults. Should I just give up on her and go about doing everything myself I am starting to get fed up.

Can I get into West Point?

Ginny G asked:

Okay, here it goes.
I am a female, junior in high school (public high school).
I am half caucasian/half south korean.
My unweighted high school GPA is 3.65. (I’ve taken mostly honors or AP/IB classes).
My class rank is 46 of 563 (top 8%).
I take my SATs a week from now, so I don’t have a score yet.
I’ve been extremely involved in athletics throughout all of my highschool years.
I play on the Varsity Tennis, Varsity Basketball, and Varsity Soccer teams at my school.
I was recognized as an All-League athlete for tennis last season.
I play the alto saxophone in my school’s jazz band.
I am in the National Honor Society, Key Club, and AFS club.
I am the Sports Editor of the school’s yearbook.
And I work on the weekends.

So based off of this, do I have a good chance of getting into West Point?

Also, my dad served as an officer (Major) in the Air Force for 24 years and then retired. I don’t know if that would increase my chances, but I’ll just throw that in too.
No, I’m not a polyglot. But I have been considering learning the Korean language and spend most of my summers in South Korea, so I can understand basic Korean conversation.
Also, I have been studying Spanish for the past three years, and I can read/talk/write a good amount of it.

And, I am aware that I need to obtain a nomination from a congressman/senator.

I’m just getting so nervous since I will be applying very soon, and I do not want to get rejected haha.
I only added the part about my dad because I found out that I can also apply for a Military Sevice-Connected Nomination based off of his military career.

Some questions about setting up a small trip to Florida?

Lizzzzz asked:

Three friends I want to go to Florida at the end of March, for spring break. A long weekend, we were thinking March 26th to March 30th. Last May I went to Sarasota for a trip it was about $500, airfare hotel, now I’m looking it’s almost $1,500 per person from NYC to Key West.

I’m far from a trip expert so some tips on how to find the best deal would be greatly appreciated. We don’t care where we go we were all just assuming Florida would be a nice, fun place to visit for cheap. Are there any hidden treasures out there? We’re looking to spend about $800 maximum. Thanks in advance, sorry for such a jumbled mess of questions :) !
